Lifestyle/ Mum's recipes #1

This is going to be my first cooking/baking post. These are all my mum's recipes that she has taught me and my siblings how to cook them. We used to live in Dubai many moons ago and she had so much time on hers hands that she took on cooking and made so many yummy dishes and we still love them to this day. Were not big meat eaters so this curry is a potato curry. You can add meat in. This dish is perfect for the A/W months when it's chilly and you want something to warm you up inside.

clove of garlic
one small onion
1 teaspoon of Turmeric
2 teaspoons of coriander
curry powder
tomato puree
Meat/ optional

Put enough oil to cover the bottom of the pot and garlic and half of onion and leave them till there a little brown. Then add Turmeric and some coriander and tomato puree then stir to make a paste and then add curry powder and salt. With the curry powder put what you want in. different people different tastes. Then peel potatoes and cut them in cubes then add them to paste and mix around to coat them. At this time add the meat if you're using it. Then add cold water half way up the pan and then leave to boil until the meat and the potatoes are done. Make sure you do taste tests to make sure there's enough of what you in there. boil  rice which takes 10/12 mins.

Then you're done and can plate up and enjoy.

So easy to make and it's so yummy.
Let me know if you make it and enjoy it.

  1. I have never attempted to make a curry, I don't actually think I could better my local, though from your recipe, it doesn't sound too difficult!

  2. Mmm that looks yummy! I have never been able to make a good curry but your recipe sounds much easier than some I have attempted!
